In cooperation with the Biopticka laborator s.r.o., we are expanding in cooperation with the Biopticka laborator s.r.o. the possibility of taking cytology specimens into a liquid medium. Sampling of the cervix cells is a part of the preventive gynecological examination, which is carried out once a year in the Czech Republic and searches for precancerous condition of the cervical cells.

The new LBC method significantly improves the quality of the examination and increases the possibility of detecting of serious changes in cervical cells. At the same time, the method enables detection of the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) type, which causes this serious illness. The examination is painless and is performed in the surgery. The little specimen brush with collected cells is “washed” in a special fixative liquid, in which the cells are transported to the cytological laboratory. The specimens are evaluated in the laboratory dually: by microscopic examination with the human eye of a specialist in cytopathology and subsequently they are repeatedly evaluated by electron microscope, which is able to find and mark even just one abnormal cell in a synoptic terrain.  The risk of overlooking serious changes of these cells is significantly reduced by implementing of this procedure.

By using the classical 50-year-old method of sampling for cytology by smearing a spatula or brush on the microscope slide, it comes about that the pathological cells are overlooked in 15 % of cases or, on the contrary, the cytological smear is “falsely” overestimated. Since we want to provide a safe and modern option of prevention with a high degree of capturing serious pathologies, we provide the possibility of cytological examination by LBC method.
